FORTUNE TELLER V PSYCHIC

What’s the Difference?

lt’s scary times like these when both fortune tellers and “psychics” see a dramatic increase in demand for their talents. But if you search online for a reading, or for a reading in a store-front, the question is which to choose?

Don’t they both predict the future? Well, Yes and No. Fortune-tellers can predict a tall, dark-headed, and handsome person will soon enter your life. And a psychic can say, if a tall, dark-headed and handsome person tries to enter your life, run the other way.

In the 20th Century past, (and up to the 1960s), if you wanted a simple prediction, you could visit a Gypsy tea room and have your fortune told by having your palm read. This was a Thing back in the day.

But then, in the late 1950s, fortune tellers were bumped off for a new Thing: Psychics you could easily visit, which was put in motion by prophetess Jean Dixon.

Dixon, a “psychic, and favorite of Nancy Reagan, was known world-wide for, in 1956, predicting a Democratic President would be assassinated. Although Jean later missed a lot of her predictions after that. she still saw clients, wrote newspaper columns and popular books. She was a Celebrity.

In her 1969 book, ‘The SYBIL LEEK BOOK OF FORTUNE TELLING,’ the author takes a stab at Jean as a wealthy, Washington DC hostess, (sort of) inferring she “got a lot of her “Clairvoyance” from inside the company she kept.

Quite the put-down of Jean, but all the more reason for people to read Leek’s book and skip the psychics. Her book teaches how to tell fortunes for yourself. Free of charge (except for the props) and something you can easily do in your pjs.

Sybil’s book offers a list of Fortune-Telling ideas & tools to those wanting to find Hope, Love, Money or a free vacation to Maui. The predictive tools include, Chrystal Balls (Scyring), Tarot Cards, Tea-Leaf Reading and Candle Imagery and Wax (to name but a few).

Ironically, Sybil must have read her own cards showing she too could be a famous Celeb “psychic” like Jean Dixon. Because Sybil later identified herself as psychic, astrologer, and hereditary witch. But not a single designation as Fortune Teller.

My way of thinking is there are many scam-artist fortune tellers and fraudulent psychics out there. Mostly in it for the money. Buy a candle to escape your curse. Pay to have a seat at the next Seance.

But in the end, at least in deep history, Fortune-tellers and Psychics might have been one and the same. For example, the Oracles of Delphi and their predicted ides of March and the prophecies of the Augers and the Sooth Sayers of Ancient Greece and Rome. These individuals were “tasked” by the Powerfuls to make predictions of war and disasters. They were unlike many telepaths and mediums today, whose only task is to make a living, and then, maybe write a best-selling book that will turn them into an IG Influencer.

You too can tell your Fortune

Psychic Tell: True: we have a lot of advanced technology, but these are the days of the New Dark Ages. And anybody who disagrees is in a cult.
