time-traveling to the paranormal venture bookshop

Vintage Psychic books

Here’s very rare 1960s VENTURE BOOKSHOP mail-order catalog featuring a wide array of “the strange, the unusual, the unknown” paranormal (psychic) books and devices.

In the 1960s, the legendary Sci-Fi writer and editor Raymond Palmer and his wife opened this Evanston, Ill. Bookshop, offering items like Aura Goggles, Dialgraf Biorhythm Computers and Thought Dials. Also available, Pendulums, Divining Rods, Jade jewelry, Ouija Boards and more.

Plus more vintage books than you could count up to 33 on.

Palmer was a vintage sci-fi Influencer – a writer and editor/publisher of FATE Magazine, who is said to have created the modern UFO craze.

In 1948, he co-founded Clark Publishing in order to publish Fate and other sci fi magazines. At its peak, FATE reportedly had more than 100k subscribers. And many of them later “shopped” for Venture books and psychic “appliances.”

In the 1960s, The Venture Bookshop was likely one-of-a-kind, in terms of its far reach and its background. The catalog remains a gem for those researching ESP and Paranormal history over the past 150 years, with its record of vintage psychic tools and books.

Psychic Books & More

You could order books from famed parapsychology figures like George Adamski’s. ‘Flying Saucers Farewell,’ ‘Human Personality,’ by F.W.H. Myers and “Astrological Keywords,” by Manly P. Hall.

ESPing in the 1960s

As I continue by headlong-dive into psychic abilities & validations, the catalog is an amazing reference for my parapsychology library.

I’m not a reliable Time Traveler, and I can’t order from the catalog anymore, But I sure as heck can douse for the rare PSI titles at estate and book sales, where I find most of my SupraNormal ephemera.
