So far, Problematic
In 1950, Isaac Asimov wrote a book of stories predicting robots would become humanized and humans would become roboticized – or so I speculate.
The book was I,ROBOT. A Classic Science Fiction book
SEVENTY-SIX years out from 1950, we have driverless cars taxying us around, and giant machines gorging on rare books to feed the ever-ravenous Mindless Artificial Intelligencia Data banks.
We hue & cry about the destruction of books and history, but unfortunately Robots & AI aren’t programmed to care about books – or us.
They Simply Don’t Give A Damn
Against my better judgement, I rode a Waymo yesterday and it stopped, suddenly, seven blocks from its programmed destination. There was no way to make it go forward.
But unlike Uber or Lyft, the steering wheel won’t be penalized – or fired. And no apology or refund will be forthcoming for making us walk the blocks in penetrating heat.
PSYCHIC & SCIFI
After years of researching Parapsychology topics, I’ve discovered there’s a very thin line between actual Clairvoyance and Sci-fi, which sometimes means Sci-Fi becomes Sci-Non-Fi, like the truths emerging in Asimov’s robot stories.
THE TRUTH IS NOW BOTH OUT THERE and INSIDE HERE.
As AI steamrolls every facet of our lives, we become our very own science fiction characters, fighting to stop construction of massive data centers, and battling against penetrating intrusion into our personal lives.
WHERE’S OUR SUPERHERO?
We need a new type of Super Hero; the villains can now think faster than we can. The Truth is no longer out in Space, but in the space inside our Minds. We need brains; not brawn. And in a Hurry.
