THE PSYCHIC READING OF OBJECTS

In the 1920s, parapsychologists from around the world were testing subjects on their ability to gain knowledge about a person from one of their objects – like a watch or a photograph.

But even earlier, Psychometry was first discovered by an Ohio doctor, J. Rodes Buchanan, who published his findings in 1849. He discovered that some people could identify different medicines hidden in sealed envelopes. They also could accurately describe the writers of letters written by unknown senders. And the results, Dr. Buchanan said, were “better than their most intimate friends.”

Over the years, famed psychometrists emerged – among them, the French Pascal Forthuny, the Dutch Gerard Croiset and the American Eileen Garrett. Each participated in rigorous testing in their home country, and each was able to extract exact information from objects belonging to a secret, chosen subject.

The 1922 photo, below, taken by famed photographer, Man Ray, is of Antonin Artaud, a surrealist, avant-garde artist and actor, who followed the occult and mysticism. This photo is found in the book, ‘MAN RAY.’
